University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown

Information About Spring 2021 Semester

1. First Day of Classes: Classes will begin on Tuesday, January 19th as scheduled. Classes will be held virtually during the beginning of the semester. A. Please review any information sent by your instructors regarding class information. B. Students scheduled for academic activities that require in-person attendance (student teaching, clinicals, etc.) should discuss these directly with their instructors.

2. Delay of Residential Move In: Students WILL NOT be returning to campus housing prior to classes beginning on January 19th. This is the case at all Pitt campuses for the Spring semester. The University’s COVID-19 Medical Response Office (CMRO) is monitoring the state of the virus in western Pennsylvania and all counties where Pitt campuses are located. The CMRO will soon develop and communicate the resident student move-in plans for all Pitt campuses very soon. Residential students should expect a shelter in place time period for all students similar to the plan at the end of the fall 2020 semester.

A. Communication about Move in: Resident students will hear from our Housing & Dining Office with specific move-in instructions as soon as the CMRO announces their plans.

B. Prorated Charges: Housing and dining costs will be prorated for the portion of the semester when students were not on campus.

C. Cancellation of Housing and Dining: If you applied for spring 2021 housing and have decided not to return, please make sure you cancel your housing at my.pitt.edu (the cancellation form is in the Johnstown Campus Housing & Dining Services task center).

D. Clinical and Student Teaching Housing: Students who are scheduled for academic activities that require in-person attendance (student teaching, clinicals, etc.) will be permitted to move to campus to attend these classes with approval from their Academic Division Office.
