John P. Murtha Foundation Public Service Fellows Application is Open

The John P. Murtha Foundation Public Service Fellows program is a collaborative community effort. It is led by the John P. Murtha Foundation and designed to continue Congressman Murtha’s commitment during his long career of engaging young people in public service for the betterment of people of all backgrounds and providing the community with future leaders and role models.

The fellowship program is open each summer to four University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown students for seven-week, paid fellowships beginning in late June through mid-August. The John P. Murtha Fellowships provide participants with an engaging summer employment opportunity in which they will identify and support solutions to challenges facing our community. In turn, the Foundation expects to benefit from this program by bringing the perspectives of community youth to light for the collaborative partners. The Foundation seeks students with an interest in community engagement and equity issues, urban planning, government, journalism, political science, and/or current events. Students of all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

This effort is in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, Vision Together 2025, the Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.
