JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown has been selected to host the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Super Regional Tournament at Sunnehanna Country Club on May 7-9, 2026—a significant honor for the institution.
This tournament will see 20 teams and 108 players, as well as coaches, families, and fans from the Atlantic and East Regions for four days, generating an estimated $100,000 or more in hotel revenue alone, according to Pitt-Johnstown golf coach Cody Trabert. "We're just excited to bring teams from all over the northeastern United States and show off the golf course," Trabert said. "It's going to be a great win-win situation for the Johnstown community, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, and Sunnehanna Country Club."
Athletic Director for Pitt-Johnstown, Abby Gearhart, emphasized the significance of hosting the event: "Golf in this area, especially with Sunnehanna’s rich history, is so special. All the schools participating are really excited to play on a course that hosts a lot of amateur and pro-am tournaments."
“A lot of work has gone into bringing this event to Johnstown,” said Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Athletics, Mike Drahos. “We are excited not only for the positive impact it will have for our university, but also the Johnstown area. 100 hotel rooms, plus staff and fans spending the week in Johnstown eating and shopping is not an insignificant thing.”
Fans are welcome to come watch the NCAA Golf Regional and admission is free. Tee-times start daily at 7:30am and will continue through the afternoon. “This is a great opportunity to watch some high-level golf; we would love to see the community come out and support this event!” Drahos stated.
