After spending several years working in education and private industry trying to find out what I wanted to do I discovered my true calling in life. My love of finance was sparked by working in the housing industry and getting involved with mortgage financing. I discovered my talent for teaching when I was provided the opportunity to lead classes while serving in the Georgia Army National Guard. It was natural for me to put the two things together, and that lead me to teaching finance at the college level. Over two decades later I have taught finance, management and economics classes at several different schools, including Florida State University, James Madison University, St. Vincent College, Flagler College and Thomas University. In addition, I taught a variety of business classes online for over a decade with the University of Phoenix. I have been at UPJ now for over a decade teaching in and leading the Department of Finance and Economics. Part of the reason for my success has been my ability to relate my real-world experiences and current events to the material covered in the classroom.
