Dining Updates 2025

Above: The newly created Mountain Cat Cafe will be open weekdays for breakfast and every evening from 7:00 to midnight for late-night dining.

On behalf of everyone from Chartwells and Dining Services, welcome to campus dining!  We are looking forward to seeing you on campus and unveiling a number of enhancements we’ve been working on over the summer.  This message will tell you about our new concepts, our new mobile ordering app, and some important things everybody should know with regards to dining.

New Dining Concepts

Two new dining options are available this year: Yella’s and the Mountain Cat Café.

  • Yella’s, described as a “new take on classic favorites,” replaces Subway and features submarines, classic deli sandwiches, desserts, and milkshakes.  Next year, the menu will be expanded to include hot subs, chicken sandwiches, burgers, and wings.  Yella’s is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and meal exchanges are available
  • The Mountain Cat Café, located in the former Pizza Pitt location, is open for breakfast Monday through Friday from 7:30-10:30 a.m., and for late-night dining from 7 p.m. to midnight seven days a week.  The breakfast menu includes made-to-order breakfast sandwiches, fresh-baked pastries, and specialty coffee drinks.  The late-night menu features all of the former Pizza Pitt’s favorites including pizza, sandwiches, salads, and a variety of snacks and beverages.  We also hope to bring live entertainment to the Mountain Cat Café!

New Meal Plan Management System

We are rolling out a new meal plan management system this fall called Transact.  The biggest difference you will notice from the previous system is a new mobile ordering app.  Boost has been replaced with Transact Mobile Ordering and the app is available for download for both Apple and Android devices.  Some of the other enhancements available through Transact include:

  • A student portal (aka SAM) allows you to check your meal swipe and dining dollar balances and view your transaction history.
  • The one-hour waiting period between meal swipes has been reduced to 15 minutes.
  • You can now place a mobile order using both a meal swipe and dining dollars in the same transaction.  Want to order a meal exchange from Mountain Cat Café and add a dessert?  That’s now possible!  With Boost, you would have needed to do two separate transactions.

Meal Plan Changes

The deadline to change meal plans is Wednesday, August 27.  You may change to a higher plan at any time during the semester, but changing to a lower plan or canceling a meal plan is not permitted after the deadline.  To change your meal plan, go to the Housing Forms section of the Housing Portal (link at the bottom of this message).

Food Allergies & Special Diets

Chartwells' "Don't be Shy, Self-Identify" program provides an opportunity for you to communicate special dietary needs to the members of their culinary team.  If you have a food allergy or dietary restriction related to a medical conditions and/or religion (halal and kosher meals), create a "Don't be Shy" profile using the Dine on Campus app.  A member of the Chartwells culinary team will then contact you to discuss your specific dietary needs and outline ways to ensure a safe and enjoyable dining experience.
