Pitt-Johnstown Winterfest 2026 Celebrates Mountain Cat Spirit with Record Attendance

JOHNSTOWN, PA. – The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown's 6th Annual Winterfest proved to be an outstanding success, drawing more than 200 alumni back to campus and hundreds of community members for a weekend celebration of Mountain Cat spirit on January 23-24, 2026.

The two-day event showcased the best of Pitt-Johnstown athletics and community engagement, with participants enjoying a wide range of activities across campus.

Friday evening kicked off with an exciting men’s wrestling match against Seton Hill University, followed by an Athletic Alumni & Guest Reception that brought together more than 80 former student-athletes and supporters for an evening of reconnection and camaraderie.

Saturday's Friends and Family Day featured free activities that drew enthusiastic crowds throughout the day. Families enjoyed inflatables in the Wellness Center, while entertainment was provided by a live band. The Zamias Aquatic Center welcomed swimmers during open swim sessions, and the Sports Center hosted competitive basketball games as both the women's and men's teams took on PSAC opponent Gannon University.

The weekend concluded with an FCA-sponsored Faith and Family Night, which saw 196 in attendance for the testimonies and live worship music that brought the community together in fellowship.

"The turnout exceeded our expectations," said Abby Gearhart, Director of Athletics. "Seeing so many alumni return to campus and community members join us for Winterfest reinforces what makes Pitt-Johnstown special – we truly are a family."

The Alumni Welcome Room provided a gathering space throughout Saturday where alumni and their families enjoyed food and drinks, and received exclusive Mountain Cat swag, creating opportunities for networking and reminiscing about shared experiences on campus.

The success of Winterfest 2026 demonstrates the strong bond between the university, its alumni, and the broader Johnstown community, continuing a tradition of celebration and connection that strengthens with each passing year. We are already looking forward to Winterfest next year!
