Event Recap: UPJ Hosts the 5th Annual Leadership Summit
By: Trevor Farabaugh
On January 31, 2026, the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown held its fifth annual Leadership Summit. The summit offers student leaders and organization members chances to discover ways to make a meaningful impact within their organizations and communities, inspiring them to put what they learn into practice.
Many student leaders, alumni, and campus organization members took part in the event. The Leadership Summit featured several facilitators leading three breakout sessions, and Judson Laipply— a motivational speaker, well-known for his humorous approach and viral YouTube videos— who delivered the keynote address at the summit. They offered great food, Pitt-Johnstown branded giveaways and conference-specific gift items, and a way for clubs and organizations to discuss ways of improvement in a fun environment.
President Gary Poole and the Student Government added a snack break and a special session this year, giving students a chance to raise campus issues directly. This provided an effective platform for leaders and members of communities, organizations, or clubs to share their concerns.
The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is committed to growing the Leadership Summit next year. We look forward to continuing to provide students with opportunities to connect and participate in activities designed to support their leadership development.
