International Admissions

Pitt-Johnstown international students enjoy their cultures at the annual International Fair

International First Year and Transfer Students

We are excited that you are interested in applying to Pitt-Johnstown! The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown offers a positive learning atmosphere and an outstanding record of student success. The distinctive combination of our people, programs, and place results in exceptional performance in preparing students for career and professional success.

Pitt-Johnstown operates on a rolling admissions policy*, and the application opens on August 1. Our Admissions Committee review applications daily starting in late August, so we encourage students to apply early. Please allow 2 weeks for an admissions decision, once your application checklist is complete.

*At the latest, your application and all required application materials must be received by the following dates to ensure adequate processing time:

  • April 15 for the fall term (August)
  • October 15 for the spring term (January)

All international students must complete the International Admission Online Application and must submit all of the following required documentation to the Admissions Welcome Center.

Academic Records

  • Original or certified, official completed secondary school records from equivalent to U.S. grades 9-11 (transcripts, marksheets, certificates, examination results, etc.) and any national/state examination results required in your country. You will also need to send literal translations of your records if they are not in English.
    • We recommend that you submit an electronic version of your high school transcripts to upjadmit@pitt.edu
  • Self-reported Transcript Academic Record System (STARS), formerly known as SRAR. Students who are currently enrolled in high school can complete the STARS to improve the application processing time, rather than sending a transcript. Students who have graduated from high school must submit official transcripts with proof of graduation instead of STARS. Please note that we will compare your STARS to your official high school transcript if you enroll at Pitt-Johnstown. Accuracy in completing the STARS is very important, as discrepancies and misrepresentations could result in the Admissions Committee revoking your admissions decision.

SAT or ACT Results

Supplying the SAT or ACT results are optional. If a student would like the Admissions Committee to consider these results as part of the admissions decision, we will consider the highest ACT composite score or the highest SAT superscore. Official results should be sent by the testing agency directly to the University of Pittsburgh using the appropriate code:

  • SAT: 2934
  • ACT: 3735

Official TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo Results

International students are typically required to submit an English language proficiency exam. However, it is important that you review the guidelines and exceptions for these exams because there are some instances where the exam requirement may be waived.
Institutional code for TOEFL: 2934

University Credits

First-year students who have taken university credits should also submit:

  • Official post-secondary records and, if they are in a language other than English, literal, translated versions of them, and official evaluation of those credits.
  • We may need to request an official course catalog and/or course syllabi for courses completed at a college or university outside of the U.S.
