Zoom poetry reading featuring poet John Gallaher on Thursday February 18 at 7 pm

The University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown’s Humanities Division will host a Zoom poetry reading featuring nationally acclaimed poet John Gallaher on Thursday February 18 at 7:00pm.

email tneff@pitt.edu to register for this event, which is free and open to the public
Of his most recent book, Brand New Spacesuit, his publisher writes, “John Gallaher writes with honesty, humor, and tenderness about what fades and what remains. These poems offer snapshots of the poet’s memories of his adoption and childhood, his father’s heart attacks, his mother’s progressing Alzheimer’s disease and stroke, raising his own children….With exquisite attention to detail, Gallaher captures the losses, anxieties, and possibilities that come with caring for one another."

...and, if even more info is desired...

JOHN GALLAHER is the author, co-author, and editor of nine books, including The Little Book of Guesses (Four Way Books, 2007), winner of the prestigious Levis Poetry Prize.  His two most recent collections—In a Landscape (BOA Editions, 2014) and Brand New Spacesuit (BOA Editions, 2020)—have been praised by critics as “relentlessly alive” and full of poems that allow us to feel “more connected to the minutia and struggles and pleasures and loves of this life on earth.”  He is the co-editor of The Laurel Review and an assistant professor of English at Northwest Missouri State University.
