Here at Pitt-Johnstown, we understand that the important step in overcoming any problem is to know where to turn for assistance. Information, counseling, and treatment for alcohol and/or drug problems is available through resources in the community and costs may be covered by health care benefits. Confidential support services are available for those with abuse problems who individually pursue treatment and counseling.

Cambria County Drug and Alcohol Program, located on Franklin St. in Johnstown, is a good resource to check out first as it provides information regarding local area drug and alcohol providers. To contact Cambria County Drug and Alcohol Program, you may dial 814-536-5388.

Conemaugh Health Systems New Visions Chemical Dependency Program, located at the Memorial Medical Center’s Lee Campus in Johnstown, provides education, evaluation treatment and support to teens and adults struggling with drug and/or alcohol dependency. Outpatient services are available as well as group support and an array of community education programs. To contact New Visions Chemical Dependency Program, you may call 814-534-1627.

Recovery Resources, located at Gazebo Park in Johnstown, provides a complete assessment of an individual who may be experiencing substance abuse problems, development of an individualized treatment protocol, and provide individual, group, and family therapy in a non-residential setting. Alcoholics Anonymous has 2 locations; one in Johnstown, PA and one in Somerset, PA. This resource provides support and fellowship to those individuals who make a commitment to stop drinking and live a sober lifestyle. To contact Alcoholics Anonymous, 814-533-5907.

The Office of Health and Counseling Services is located in the bottom of the Student Union, room G-10. This office offers confidential counseling services to all students, free of charge, to address the psychological, educational, developmental, and social needs of our Pitt-Johnstown students.
